Elvis A. Angyiembe is currently Regional Compliance Officer and Corporate Counsel at Panasonic Avionics. Prior to joining Panasonic Avionics, Elvis was Regional Compliance Counsel, sub-Saharan Africa, for Weatherford International, an oil and gas service company operating in over 100 countries. Based in Dubai, UAE, he advised Weatherford on issues relating to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other international laws governing international trade in all Sub-Saharan African countries. Prior to joining Weatherford, Elvis practiced law at Burleson LLP in Houston, Texas. Elvis has also worked at Braumiller Schulz, a Trade Law firm in Dallas, Texas, and in the legal department of BP in Houston, Texas.
Elvis was recently named as a Finalist for Best Corporate Counsel by the Houston Business Journal. He received a Juris Doctorate (cum laude) from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Elvis is also the Vice-Chair of the Houston Bar Association, International Law Section and Council Member of the Houston Bar Association, Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law Section. Elvis is also a Director of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN); he was formerly Chair of the AIPN Young Negotiators (AIPN-YN) Committee in Houston where he spearheaded their educational and student outreach efforts.
